چکیده

Evidence of hydrothermal activity is reported for the Mesozoic pre- and syn-rift successions western Adriatic palaeomargin Alpine Tethys, preserved in Western Southalpine Domain (NW Italy). The products processes are represented by vein breccia cements, as well dolomitization silicification host rocks. In eastern part study area, interpreted necking zone continental margin, Middle Triassic dolostones Lower Jurassic sediments crossed veins hydrofracturing breccias cemented saddle dolomite. precipitation dolomite cements occurred within stratigraphic succession close to sediment–water interface. Despite shallow burial depth, fluid inclusion microthermometry clumped isotopes show that fluids were relatively hot (80–150°C). hyperextended distal zone, a polyphase history host-rock fracturing recorded, with at least two generations calcite, quartz. Vein opening cementation depth around time deposition clastic succession. Fluid on both quartz indicates temperature 90–130°C, again pointing fluids. Both Fenera-Sostegno Montalto Dora areas, O, C Sr isotope values, coupled data, indicate derived from seawater interacted crustal rocks during circulation. Stratigraphic petrographic evidence, U–Pb dating dolomitized clasts sediments, document circulated through latest Toarcian, corresponding entire evolution portion palaeomargin. documented temporally correlated regional-scale thermal events took place same interval deeper levels.

The inheritance of a Mesozoic landscape in western Scandinavia

In-situ weathered bedrock, saprolite, is locally found in Scandinavia, where it is commonly thought to represent pre-Pleistocene weathering possibly associated with landscape formation. The age of weathering, however, remains loosely constrained, which has an impact on existing geological and landscape evolution models and morphotectonic correlations. Here we provide new geochronological eviden...

Isolated, but transnational: the glocal nature of Waldensian ethnobotany, Western Alps, NW Italy

BACKGROUND An ethnobotanical field study on the traditional uses of wild plants for food as well as medicinal and veterinary plants was conducted in four Waldensian valleys (Chisone, Germanasca, Angrogna, and Pellice) in the Western Alps, Piedmont, NW Italy. Waldensians represent a religious Protestant Christian minority that originated in France and spread around 1,170 AD to the Italian side o...

Mesozoic paleogeography and facies distribution in the Northern Mediterranean Tethys from Western Carpathians view

West Carpathian Mesozoic paleogeographic development indicates the effect of a left lateral shift of the Alpine- Carpathian microcontinent along the European shelf since the Early Jurassic. The evolution during Late Triassic/Early Jurassic was controlled by convergence along the border of the Meliata Ocean and by contemporaneous divergence along the Middle Atlantic/Penninic rift. During Mid-Cre...
